absolutely free? Then visit the Sandilands Forest Centre of the Manitoba Forestry
Association!
Sometimes described as one of Manitoba's best kept secrets, the Sandilands Forest
Centre, 80 kilometres east of Winnipeg on the Trans-Canada Highway at the junction of
Highway 11, invites visitors to come and enjoy this unique facility. The centre has
provided an outdoor hands-on learning opportunity to over a quarter of a million visitors
since opening in 1957. Facilities include a museum depicting the flora and fauna of
eastern Manitoba, two nature trails, the Barla Woodlot Demonstration Trial, the Beaven
Suspension Bridge crossing the Whitemouth River, the historic Dawson Ranger Station, the
famous Tree Planting Coach, model fire tower, and a challenging tree identification
display.
The centre is open to visitors Thursday through Monday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. until
August 22 except for holidays. Bookings for group tours can be made by contacting the
