A Summer Adventure

A fun experience for the whole family.

Looking for a unique experience? Something that will be enjoyable for people of all ages? A chance to have fun and learn about our natural environment? And something that is absolutely free? Then visit the Sandilands Forest Centre of the Manitoba Forestry Association!

Sometimes described as one of Manitoba's best kept secrets, the Sandilands Forest Centre, 80 kilometres east of Winnipeg on the Trans-Canada Highway at the junction of Highway 11, invites visitors to come and enjoy this unique facility. The centre has provided an outdoor hands-on learning opportunity to over a quarter of a million visitors since opening in 1957. Facilities include a museum depicting the flora and fauna of eastern Manitoba, two nature trails, the Barla Woodlot Demonstration Trial, the Beaven Suspension Bridge crossing the Whitemouth River, the historic Dawson Ranger Station, the famous Tree Planting Coach, model fire tower, and a challenging tree identification display.

The centre is open to visitors Thursday through Monday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. until August 22 except for holidays. Bookings for group tours can be made by contacting the Manitoba Forestry Association by phoning (204) 453-3182, writing to 900 Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3M 0Y4, or by e-mail mfainc@mb.sympatico.ca.
